At Gwinn, the Modeltowners were plagued by poor shooting all game as they fell to the Copper Kings.
Marybeth Halonen led Calumet with 16 points, while Emily Curtice had 11 for Gwinn.
“We got got down early and stayed down,” Modeltowners head coach Ben Olsen said. “We were down by 10 early and cut it to four at the half. Calumet built a 14-point lead early in the fourth, and we cut it to six midway, and just couldn’t overcome the early deficit. They had an answer for every run we tried to make. It was another difficult night, shooting three quarters in single digits. Lots of credit to Calumet, who played zone and made us try to make shots, which we were unable to do.”
Gwinn travels to Westwood Tuesday.
