Calumet and Lake Linden-Hubbell players were well represented in this year’s All-UP football selections.

The selections were made during the UP Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association’s 70th annual football meeting Thursday.

Two Copper Kings players, Alex Studebaker and Nick Djerf, made the Dream Team. Their teammates Dean Loukus, Trevor Torola and Jayden Gariepy made the Small School team.

Studebaker made the Dream Team as a defensive tackle. Djerf made the Dream Team as a defensive back. Djerf was also named the Dream Team return specialist.

The Lakes were represented with five players on the Small School team, including Josh Suhonen (offensive tackle), Carter Crouch (quarterback), Caleb Gregoire (running back), Isaac Codere (defensive tackle) and Jesse Hill (linebacker). L’Anse’s Jonah Dowd also made the Small School team as a defensive back.

Studebaker, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound senior, was also named the Large School Defensive Player of the Year.

Crouch, the Lakes’ senior quarterback, played in five games this season with a completely torn ACL. He missed four games, but managed to help lead the state’s smallest 11-player football school to a playoff appearance. He received two more votes for the Small School quarterback slot than Gwinn quarterback Caleb Anderson.

Lake Linden-Hubbell’s Will Lyons, Caleb Klein and Hancock’s Austin Salani received honorable mention. Calumet’s Will Twardzik and Scott Loukus also received honorable mention.

Menominee’s Keagan Monroe was named the Large School Offensive Player of the Year.

Marquette was named the Class AB Team of the Year. Westwood coach Scott Syrjala was named the Large School Coach of the Year after the Patriots went 7-2.

Ishpeming senior Jacob Kugler was named the Mitchell Snyder Lineman of the Year.

Iron Mountain senior quarterback Marcus Johnson was named the Small School Offensive Player of the Year. Ishpeming senior linebacker Ben Pruett was named the Small School Defensive Player of the Year.

Lake Linden-Hubbell head coach Andy Crouch was among the nominations for Small School Coach of the Year, but the award went to Iron Mountain head coach Robin Marttila. Iron Mountain was named Class C Team of the Year.

North Central’s Noah Gorzinski was named the Eight-Player Offensive Player of the Year. Pickford’s Jimmy Storey was named the Eight-Player Defensive Player of the Year. North Central was named the Eight-Player Team of the Year and its head coach Leo Gorzinski was named the Eight-Player Coach of the Year after the Jets finished the regular season undefeated.
